Law Enforcement Guidelines

Last Updated: September 29, 2026

These guidelines are for law enforcement officers seeking records from BATCH. They are not legal advice, and nothing here waives any right or objection available to us or to our users. BATCH is operated by So Good Limited Co. in the State of Utah, United States.

1. How to reach us

Send legal process to support@batch.site with “Law Enforcement Request” in the subject line. Email is the fastest route and is how we prefer to receive requests. We cannot accept service of process by telephone, and we cannot discuss an account with a caller we have not verified.

Please send your request from an official government email address, on agency letterhead, and include:

  • the issuing agency, the officer’s name, badge or ID number, and a direct callback number;
  • the account you are asking about — the phone number or email address used to register is what identifies it;
  • the specific records sought and the date range;
  • a return email address for the response.

A request that names no account and no date range is too broad for us to act on, and we will ask you to narrow it.

2. What legal process we require

We disclose records only where we are legally required to, and the level of process required depends on what is sought:

  • Basic subscriber information — name on the account, registration date, email address, phone number, most recent login — requires a valid subpoena or equivalent.
  • Non-content records — account activity, match history, device and log data — requires a court order or equivalent.
  • Content — the text of messages, photographs, and profile content not publicly visible — requires a search warrant issued on probable cause by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Requests from outside the United States should be made through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty or letter rogatory, unless another lawful basis applies.

3. Emergencies

If you believe a person is in immediate danger of death or serious physical injury, write to support@batch.site with “EMERGENCY DISCLOSURE REQUEST” in the subject line. Describe the nature of the emergency, the person at risk, and why the records you are asking for will help. We review emergency requests as fast as we are able and may disclose without legal process where the circumstances genuinely warrant it. Please still contact the relevant emergency services.

4. Preservation

We will preserve records associated with a named account for 90 days pending service of valid legal process, and will extend that once on request. Send preservation requests to support@batch.site with “Preservation Request” in the subject line and identify the account. A preservation request is not itself a request for disclosure.

5. What we hold

BATCH keeps only what it needs to run the service: the account’s registration details, profile content the member wrote and the photographs they uploaded, match and introduction history, messages exchanged in the app, reports and blocks, and technical logs. We do not store payment card numbers — payments are handled by Stripe, Apple and Google, and those companies hold the financial records. We do not retain continuous location history; where a member has shared a location it is tied to a specific action.

Deleted accounts are removed in line with our Privacy Policy, and records that have been deleted cannot be produced.

6. Telling the user

Our policy is to notify a member when their records are requested, with enough time for them to object, unless we are prohibited from doing so by law or court order, or unless we believe notice would create a risk of injury, of destruction of evidence, or of harm to a child. If your request requires that notice be withheld, say so and cite the authority.

7. Child safety

We report apparent child sexual abuse material and attempted child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which forwards reports to the appropriate agency. See our Child Safety Standards.

8. Costs and testimony

We may seek reimbursement for the cost of producing records where the law allows it. Authentication of records is normally handled by a business records declaration; requests for live testimony must be made separately and well in advance.

9. Members of the public

These guidelines are for law enforcement. If you are a member with a safety concern, use Report and Block in the app or write to support@batch.site. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
